It’s been a dream of ours to own a home in the Florida Keys for some time now. We spent hours researching, adding our names to email lists, and watching Youtube channels about the Florida Keys. We ran across a channel called Life by the Bow, and we were hooked! Come to buy a place, she will know exactly what I want. I did most of my research online and honed in on a handful of properties; came down and toured; and then let Stephanie work her magic. Coastal Realty exceeded our expectations. My agent, Stephanie, was prompt, courteous, and most importantly knows the area. She was born and raised in the Keys and was able to give us all the pros and cons to bayside vs. oceanside, where’s the nearest store/medical/boat ramps, etc. She pulled comps on homes that sold in the area, and was able to help us put together a good game plan for our offer to purchase. She even went above and beyond make us a spreadsheet to show us how much our new property will cost, and what we could expect to see in returns if we used it as a rental property. I would recommend Stephanie and Coastal Realty to anyone who is thinking of buying a home in the Keys. As a bonus, Coastal has a leasing department, and we will utilize them in managing our rental. We met Eric Smith on a quick trip to the Keys Feb 2021. We were just beginning to research buying a home in Tavernier. We corresponded back in forth for nearly a year before finding the right home with canal access. Eric was patient with us through the purchase of our home. We hit a few obstacles and he helped us find ways to move beyond them and get to the signing table. Since purchasing this beautiful place Eric has taken the role as property manager. My wife & I first contacted Claire about 1 year ago. we told her that at some point the we will be looking for a place in the upper/mid keys. At theat point we still needed to sell our home back in Palm Beach County & wasn’t quite sure how soon our Florida Keys property search would be. Meanwhile we stayed on touch & she emailed us new listings when they came up. We also spoke along the way kinda regularly. September 2021 we decided to list our home & sold it quickly in the current market. We’ve become renters while we started our Florida Keys home search in October 2021. Claire kept us updated regularly on new listings & educated us along the way. It”s great to work with a local REALTOR like Claire Johnson. The market is tight along with limited & out of control real estate prices. We started off looking at the first property in the beginning of October in Key Largo. She showed us a couple more properties in Islamorada the same day. The following day she showed us a few properties in Marathon.We actually put in a couple offers from those showings & almost committed to one of them but it didn’t quite fit what we were looking for. We made quite a few more trips from Palm Beach County in October,November,December & January & Claire showed us additional properties. Claire always made the time for us & had the patience of a saint. She went above & beyond what anybody should expect from a realtor. We actually purchased the first place we seen in Key Largo in January after the owners original deal fell through. Claire helped us negotiate a great deal in todays real estate market. We closed on it February !6,2022 & are super excited for our next journey in the Florida Keys. Claire is still helping us with referral’s of contractors for updating some things. If there was a six-star rating for Claire, we would click on it! We recently relocated to the Keys from Upstate NY, having been frequent visitors to the area for over 20 years. That being the case, we were coming in thinking we knew the local market. We quickly learned that living in the Keys required a different level of local knowledge than vacationing in the Keys. The difference between a few miles or even a few streets can have a large impact in terms of propensity to flood, access to water and things like whether the neighborhood is mainly full time residents or rental homes. As well, her help in understanding the downstream impact to insurance costs related to things like the structure of the home, flood elevation, type of roof, storm protection and permitting for conforming and non-conforming living spaces helped us make informed decisions. Claire’s level of service and knowledge throughout the process was invaluable in helping us find and purchase the right home and avoiding what could have been some costly mistakes along the way. Highly recommended!

When we decided to move out of the Keys and rent our house Natalie, John and Coastal as our property managers were excellent.
