About David Epstein

David Epstein is a proud Florida Keys resident, decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, and trusted real estate professional whose life and work are deeply rooted in the spirit of Islamorada. His family moved to the Keys in 1977, where he attended Coral Shores High School. Growing up surrounded by the water and the people who define the Keys instilled in David a lifelong love for the islands and the community he now proudly serves.

David’s connection to the Florida Keys was shaped by his father, Bob Epstein, a pioneering adventurer, author, and photojournalist who helped capture and preserve the story of island life. Bob co-authored A History of Fishing in the Florida Keys and 43 Bridges to the Florida Keys, chronicling the region’s rich history and culture. His creativity, storytelling, and commitment to community continue to inspire David personally and professionally.

Following that legacy of service, David built a distinguished 30-year career in the U.S. Air Force, serving both in military and civilian roles as an Emergency and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) Manager. Much of his tenure included leadership positions at the Pentagon, where he coordinated with the Department of Defense and oversaw emergency management operations. His military experience honed discipline, adaptability, and the ability to lead under pressure—qualities that now define his approach to real estate and business.

After retiring from military and federal service, David returned home to Islamorada to combine his leadership experience with his lifelong passion for the Keys. He serves on the Islamorada Parks and Recreation Committee, helping ensure a balance between community needs and environmental preservation. As a real estate professional, David guides clients through the complexities of buying and selling in one of the world’s most unique coastal markets. His diverse background in business, property management, and entrepreneurship allows him to think creatively, craft innovative solutions, and deliver exceptional results.

Beyond real estate, David remains deeply involved in the community, supporting initiatives that promote responsible growth and preserve the islands’ character. He is also the founder of Wahoo Adventures, a sportfishing charter company and lifestyle brand inspired by his love for the water and the Keys’ sportfishing heritage. Through Poppa Wahoo, David offers locals and visitors an elevated Florida Keys experience—celebrating the beauty, adventure, and connection that make the islands truly special.
